Today, bail can be an important factor in deciding whether or not a person may be free of charge, or spend the rest of their life locked up. Understanding where things changed gives those who are interested in the effect bail has on people.
The annual average number of criminal convictions has been constant since 2000. However, the average number of inmates has risen dramatically. This is because it is the case that the bail system of America. United States no longer honors the presumption of innocence as it did in the past. It is as though people have been found guilty until they prove that they are not. This is especially true for communities that are low-income.
